USB issues: device descriptor read/64, error -110

Post by bdfoster89 » 2011/02/02 15:58:51

Hello all. First post.

I'm having issues with getting my USB ports to work on my server. USB keyboards, mice, drives, flash drives, card readers, etc. will not work on this server.

Here's some preliminary diagnostic information. Let me know if you need anything else.

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Reading FAQ & Readme First is recommended for new users.

Both too much and not enough information. Posting the entire unedited dmesg in-line is a bit much. Please consider editing out irrelevant info, or at least using pastebin.centos.org in the future.

Looks like possible IRQ issues or hardware problems. Have you checked BIOS settings and looked for BIOS updates? Please provide information as described in How to provide information about your system.

USB issues: device descriptor read/64, error -110

Post by gerald_clark » 2011/02/03 15:53:22

Your machine appears to not have a USB2 controller, only USB1.

Considering this is the first page that comes up, I think a solution to this problem is required other than what you've suggested.

I'm investigating it now.

My problem descript: unsafely removed USB device from Mac OS X 10.6.7 machine, plugged into Aus 701 eee pc, USB device failed with

usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71
usb 1-2: device not accepting address 9, error -71

Sorry for double-post, but the forum won't let me edit my last post.

Solution to my problem was to remove a USB NIC i had plugged in.
