What are all the things you have installed under /usr/local? Like /usr/local/bin/ztemtApp/bin/libQtGui.so.4 f.e.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

... you saved my day!
It was a MTS USB modem which I tried to install few days back but it did not work. It's uninstall script was also not working.. so finally after some small modification to the uninstall script I was able to get it working.
And now skype, smplayer, vlc all is working great
