My laptop beeps three times during the resume from hibernation. How can I disable this beeping. I use CentOS 5.3. Interestingly, this issue did not occur when I used CentOS 5.2 on the same laptop last year.

This appears to be a deliberate feature, and you can apparently blame Nigel Cunningham if I read the thread "[PATCH] Optional Beeping During Resume From Suspend To Ram." correctly, and if the behavior also affects resume from hibernation:
http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2007-06/msg07973.html The title implies the option can be disabled, but the means was not obvious to me as a non-kernel-hacker. A google on provides more info but does not enlighten me. Seems the default must be "acpi_sleep=s3_beep" but don't know how to turn it off. Ought to be easy if you have the correct magic incantation.  |

Actually that approach was mentioned somewhere in google-land, but seemed inelegant, so I ignored it.
