Network Manager and bridging interfaces

Hi all,

I have setup a network bridge on my first NIC to use with VirtualBox. Therefor I have created a configuration file for the bridge:

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br0

DEVICE=br0
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
TYPE=Bridge

and modified /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
HWADDR=00:11:22:33:44:55
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
USERCTL=no
IPV6INIT=no
PEERDNS=yes
BRIDGE=br0

This works fine unless NetworkManager is NetworkManager is disabled.

If I start the NetworkManager service the Device eth0 seems to receive an IP address through DHCP (even if this is explicitly disabled in the configuration). So my question is how to disable management of a specific interface with NetworkManager (I still want to make use of it for my Wireless Interface, so)

I remember that I have seen such an option in F10's system-config-network but this is not yet in CentOS 5.

Best Regards
Marcus

I don't use NM, but isn't there, in NM, the option to uncheck an interface?

By the way, the latest VirtualBox makes all the bridging work unnecessary. One simply selects Host from a drop down box, and it's all done for you. No more need for tap0 and all the other things.
