No, Ned, I'm only interested in how far this thread is going to grow as a person who started it. At >54,000 views this is already a world record and will never be broken -- unless, of course, 5.4 is delayed more than 5.3.

I'm sure not going to whine about how long it's taking to get the latest version of this FREE OS. I deeply appreciate the efforts by the developers who are doing something I am incapable of doing. Since I can't write code, I try to give back to the CentOS community in terms of trying to help a few folks out and answer questions here on the board.
I also got my employer to make a significant monetary donation to CentOS. I wonder how much the major complainers here do to support CentOS? |

[EDIT] Oh my god what have I done? Woot! OK, I know it will be ready by tonight. And, yes, I will give CentOS a full honest chance to be my primary desktop OS. I'll post "Linux is ready for my desktop" if things work out.

Now I'm starting to feel really sry that I'm living in RO... they denied access to the 5.3 dir; and my installation = gone with the wind. And now I'm starting the flames again!!!

To make things clear:
- we are glad that our work (i.e RLUG infrastructure guys) is appreciated. even if this happens only when we make errors.. - it is CentOS's policy (and not only CentOS', Fedora and Suse do exactly the same) to open ALL mirrors at once. In this way the load is distributed among servers - the mirror should not have been opened in the first place. It's kind of funny, because usually all that they want is source and then they manage your drivers for you. You can even only give them specification and they write driver for you and keep it up to date. Would MS do that? And look at their 64 bit windows driver's situation - much worse that in our beloved linux land :). |
