OK - that's a whole lot deeper into the mechanics than I have dug. Knowing just enough to be dangerous...
Somewhere in the files for KDE lives a set of bitmap files in various resolutions for those icons, probably .png files. I suspect that one could find the ones you want and replace with them with a set of custom ones. That's what the CentOS developers did to change the Red Hat icons to CentOS icons. Looking at the set of packages CentOS modifies in the Release Notes they are likely to be in one of the following: # kdebase # kdelibs # redhat-artwork # redhat-logos |

There is no easy way to change just the icon in the K menu on KDE 3.5.10 (latest KDE 3) much less on KDE 3.5.4 (what centOS uses). You have to dig on the installed image files, try to determine which one is displayed on the menu and replace it. KDE 4 can change that icon easily, but AFAIK, it's not available for CentOS (not that I miss it, anyway).
