Hi List,
for a x problem I reinstall the complete x packages. I remove some packages with force. Before this yum works perfect. Exact at this time we have problem with our internet connections and yum hangs somewhere when yum load the repositories and or start the update process. Now yum hangs at start from the command. I can start yum some times and no locking error is rise. strace brings: stat("/var/lib/rpm/Packages", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=79855616, ...}) = 0 open("/var/lib/rpm/Packages", O_RDONLY) = 4 fcntl(4, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC) = 0 read(4, "\0\0\0\0\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0a\25\6\0\10\0\0\0\0\20\0\0\0\10\0\0\306K\0\0"..., 512) = 512 close(4) = 0 open("/var/lib/rpm/Packages", O_RDONLY) = 4 fcntl(4, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC) = 0 fstat(4, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=79855616, ...}) = 0 futex(0x2b72ede63934, FUTEX_WAIT, 1, NULL <unfinished ...> when i execute yum update System: Linux kbhws18 2.6.18-164.2.1.el5.plus #1 SMP Fri Oct 9 12:27:45 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux CentOS release 5.4 (Final) I found a bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=444321 can someone help me or give me a hint? thanks for all regards Dietmar |

Hi,
this is the solution. With remove some files and rebuild db yum update works like expected :-) Thanks for the tip regards Dietmar |
