Hi

I am trying to install Centos 5.3 x64_64 on old DELL server

PE 2850 with RAID 1 & 5 voluomes ON PERC 4/DC DUAL CHANNEL RAID CARD

Install can not see Raid Volumes

The server can still boot with the old OS RH EL 2x and RAID and Raid volumes are fine

Any idea ?

Thank you

CentOS 5.x install should not be an issue with that unit (I still have 3 in production with 5.x). Verify the PERC RAID settings in the card BIOS. Make sure that you are allowing the install to overwrite any partition and not just linux ones for this kind of change (for you server).

I triend to start the install with DELL Open manage CD and selected RH EL 5x in the options but the install refuses the Centos CD and insisis to Insert RH CD

Any idea to get around this ?

----------

"Verify the PERC RAID settings in the card BIOS.. Make sure that you are allowing the install to overwrite any partition and not just linux ones for this kind of change (for you server)."

When I do direct install of Centos 5.4 (without using Dell Open Manage server assistant CD) ;

Centos Setup stops at partitionning step bcs the Raid Volumes are not detected. Normally there should be 2 Volumes detected Raid 1 & Raid 5

Any idea ?

Thank you

Just to clarify, 1) are you trying 5.3 or 5.4? and 2) are you trying the the CD or actually the DVD?

Once you have set things up with the Open manage CD can you then boot from CentOS 5.4 CD#1 and install?
