Adding KVM CentOS 6 to oVirt Project webadmin portal?

I have oVirt (webadmin) running, and want to add a few CentOS 6 hosts that have KVM installed to the webadmin portal under oVirt. However, after installing the VDSM rpms for CentOS 6...

rpm -Uvh vdsm-4.9-63.el6.x86_64.rpm
rpm –Uvh vdsm-cli-4.9-63.el6.x86_64.rpm

From oVirt Webadmin portal I get the following consistently from every host when I try to active the host...

"Host's Compatibility Version doesn't match the Cluster's Compatibility Version"

Anyone working with ovirt? Any ideas?

Where did you get those RPMs? They are not from CentOS nor the usual 3rd party repos?

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.

Thanks, but no thanks. The question was directed toward trying to figure out what the OP might have done that broke oVirt, so unless yours were the source it is not relevant - unless of course your's fix the issue. Still waiting on the OP.

To pschaff: I am very sorry, you are absolutely right.

Now I will try to correct my answer.

When I was tried to setup oVirt some times ago, I found that the existing in repositories version of vdsm (4.9-63) intend for RHEV-M version 2.2.

In process of installation oVirt create default cluster which has compatibility with new version (3) of virtualisation manager engine (oVirt or RHEV-M).

In case of different versions of engine defined for cluster and really installed on hosts you can get that message ("Host's Compatibility Version doesn't match ...").

To test newest versions of oVirt and vdsm on CentOS 6.2, I am builded my own rpm from git sources. If you want, I can get you link for my test repository.

Hi Dreyou,

I'm interested in your Centos6 build or oVirt, can you post that repo please ?
(or the rpmbuild .spec files and additional sources you used)

I started to use your repo, but after starting engine-setup, i get some python errors. Unfortunaly i removed the snapshot so i don't have the exact error.
Installing the vdsm software on the virtualization host was not a problem.

Do i need to change anything?
