Hi, is it possible for someone to make an ffmpeg binary that I can use? I would worship you forever.

You should visit Dag Wieers site then, and use the binary rpms for EL4;

I should have added more info. This will be used on a shared hosting environment.
I was thinking about doing it myself but I do not have a clue as to how to make a binary and also I do not have a 64 bit processor.

According to what you posted you do, you stated your specs are;

CentOS 4.1 2.6.9-22.ELsmp #1 SMP Sat Oct 8 21:32:36 BST 2005 x86_64

But that does not really matter one way or another. Go back and look again and you will see one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit.



But if your unsure then download the source rpm (ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.rf.src.rpm) and build your own;

rpmbuild --rebuild --recompile ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.3.20051207.rf.src.rpm

Then install the binary rpm packages where the output tells you they got built to.

If you have yum install and yum is current then add dags repo to your /etc/yum.repos.d folder and do;

yum install ffmpeg

The file to add is named dag.repo and looks like;



Notice the blank line at the end. If you want just cut and paste and save the file as root.

I have the latest release of CentOS that I loaded on a PC a couple of days ago and I am a newbie to Linux I am trying to get ffmpeg but when i use the command "yum install ffmpeg" it comes back nothing to do.

How do I load it ???

I have this file "ffmpeg-0.4.7-0.20030701.dag.rh73.i386.rpm" on my desk top and when I double click it tries to install but says "Packages not Found". I tried to yum the names of the files but they are not known. What do I do to install ffmpeg ????

The files are:

libmp3lame.so.0
libvorbisenc.so.0
liblmlib2.so.1

I am a newbie and I am trying hard...........
