Hi,

I've just installed CentOS 6.2 and I selected minimal installation. The installation was fine, but since the minimal selection does not include network installation, I have to install network package manually from the CD, without network, I cannot use yum to install X windows and desktop. What are packages from DVD and how can I install network from DVD in command line to install X windows and graphic desktop?

You can use yum.

yum --disablerepo=* repolist all
less /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Media.repo
yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=c6-media grouplist -v
yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=c6-media list

Thanks for the commands, which minimal network packages (for ethernet connection) and xorg packages should I install for? There are so mange packages, I guess I don't have to install all of them. Also, the "yum install xorg" did not work, the error was no such packages, I guess I have to insall each individual package from the DVD.

$ yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=c6-media list *network*

initscripts can configure the network. NetworkManager is not necessary. system-config-network-tui might help.

How about :
yum groupinfo -v x11
yum groupinstall x11
(With c6-media, naturally.)

No argument with the advice you have been given, but if you really want a GUI environment it would probably be easier to just chalk the minimal install up to a learning experience and re-install a Desktop system, and pick other desired groups/packages while you are at it.

Even experienced users may have difficulties bootstraping up from a minimal install to a usable GUI system with networking.
