Hello,

first sorry about my bad english, I will try to give my best. I am since 10 years a pure Windows Admin and I was looking for a Groupware Program for about 50 Users. So I was surfing on the Net and found http://mirror.open-xchange.org/ox/EN/community/ , took a look to the Online Demo and thought - WOW that is all I need , I want try it. So I start searching for the right Linux Version, because I am a real Linux Dummie and so I found a pre-configured Script? at http://www.linwave.de/index.php?id=153 , the only thing I need is Centos. Ok, I downloaded all 4 CD´s burnt them and installed it. Cool all is running smooth and I saw a ! at the right top (up2date), to update this Version .... As a Windows User, I did it and all was smooth again, but now I have the funniest error Messages if I want remove a Program. An Example, the up2date Programm downloaded the 113 MB for OpenOffice , it rans but now I want uninstall it complete, but an Error shows me "Packet not found" libkabinterfaces.so.1 ( kdeaddons, 3.3.1, 2 ) and this is not the only Error messages I got. I mean all is working smooth but if I start the update I have the feeling that this Setup Routine is now searching the old Versions .... I had this error also with other Applications, if I try to install it from the CD again, I got the message it is already installed, but the Setup Routine is yelling about it. I setup now the 3. time Centos and each time I use the up2date routine, than the System is flooding me with error Messages. But my Main problem is the open-xchange program. I open the terminal window and type rpmbuild --rebuild open-xchange-0.8.0-1.src.rpm and got the Error "Failed build dependencies : ant is needed by open-xchange-0.8.0-1.noarch. What the hell ist an ANT .... I am sitting here now above 19 hours and I am down...... Could anybody please tell me, what I must do, to use the updates without having later those crazy error Messages and how I must install or compile the open-xchange .src.rpm ???

Thank you, a very real Linux Dummie..

I found ANT here

http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/11/limit/2/dl/40/vendor/3337/com/CentOS.html

BUT if I try to intall those 3 .rpm files the setup is yelling that there are more files missing .... a realy long list of missing packets..... I think I give up, this is totaly confusing me, it makes all no sense for me.

Bye

The issues you are having with building OpenExchange, are most likely to get a response if you take them to OpenExchange forums / mailing lists.

With regards to the problems you have with up2date, would it be possible for you to copy and paste the errors you are having into a message here ? It would be easier to diagnose the issue then.

Hello,

thank you for your answer. You were right, special problems with open-xchange should be discuss on their forum, but at the moment I have still OS problems. ANT is not a part from OX but its needed to compile? and I can´t install ANT.

Ok, now I setup the 4. time CentOs and log each steps, the whole weekend I spent now to setup CentOs.

- Centos 4.0 fresh download
- Installation Type Custom, No firewall, SELinux Active

I enable this extra

Applications
-------------
Editors

Servers
-------
Server Configuration Tools
Web Server
Mail Server
Windows File Server
PostgreSQL Database

System
------
Administration Tools
System Tools

I do not choose other programs inside, only enable the main selection.

Total install size : 2,715 M ... Install is running and after a reboot I see this "!" from up2date and click on it.

Your system currently has up2date-4.4.5-1.centos4.3 installed ....latest version up2date-4.4.5.6-2.centos4 , there is also a bunch of other updates under "Available Updates" ... I choose lunch up2date, and install the GPG key. I see now the Red Hat Update Agent and choose - forward.
On the next screen I see Packages Flagged to be Skipped... kernel 2.6.9-5.0.5EL 2.6.9-5.0.3EL is listed but I choose Forward and not tagging it. Than there are available Packages and I choose (x) Select all packages and download them. This update cost some time, OpenOffice has alone 119 MB .... After this I ran up2date again and this time I choose the kernel and than I make a Reboot. The system is back and no available updates.

I go into Add or Remove Packages and choose than KDE (13/17) ( K Desktop Environment ) and the Development Tools ( 54/70 ) and than I ran into the first errors

Packages Not found :

libstdc++.so.5 - openoffice.org-libs 1.1.2, 24.6.0.EL4
libstdc++.so.5 - openoffice.org 1.1.2, 24.6.0.EL4
and and and and

If I start YUM list in the terminal window it shows me that the files are updated, so they are still on the system.

This is now the moment where all the problems began and I cant understand what is going on. It looks for me, that the Setup/Remove routine is not noticed about the new versions from up2date and is yelling about missing the old files ?

Ok, I totaly remove the Office/Productivity and this time it rans fine. Than I choose to install Development Tools ( 54 / 70 ) but after hitting update, I got the next error

Package Not found
krb5-libs - krb5-workstation, 1.3.4, 12

And so on and so on........

So what I am making wrong ??????

Thank you...
