Hello,

I am a Linux nubie. I have installed Cent OS 5.2 on a spare Thinkpad A20p (750mhz, 512mb) which has an ATI Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2X card on the PCI bus.
I have tried the r128 driver, but the display is duplcated (left to right) and unusable. I have reverted to using the 'vesa' driver which solved the display problem, but the 800x600 max esolution prevents me from seeing some of the buttons etc. when using Gnome.

Sooo, is there a way to increase the resolution for the 'vesa' driver? (I understand how to edit xorg.conf) or is there a different driver I should try?

Thanks,

Roger

Thanks for posting the solution - at least it is here for posterity. Might want to consider doing a Wiki entry at
