Hey everyone,

I'm using a USB bootable/kickstart to auto build a cluster of identical machines. These machines will each have 12 1TB drives. As I'm testing out my kickstart options on a lab box with just 3 1TB drives, I'm surprised at how long it takes to format each of them. Thinking of waiting for 12 of these on a cluster of 5+ hosts makes me shudder. :)

Does anyone know of a way to run the "part" kickstart commands in parallel? Format/mount/fdisk all the drives on a system at once? Or do you have to do them serially?

Any creative thinkers out there? ;)

Much appreciated.

Do it afterwards once the system is installed - in your postscript in the kickstart, have it copy a script and run it from the new /etc/rc.local so it runs on first boot up.
