Ah - Farkas Levente is a well-known name around the EL community, but that repo is not among those on the CentOS Repositories page.
Thanks for reporting back. Marking this thread [SOLVED] for posterity. |

Please let us know if you are confident the problem has been resolved, and where you got libv4l, so the issue can be marked appropriately.

It seems the first thing to do is to fix the problem with Skype. If it is crashing it doesn't matter if the camera is working or not.

The strange is I tried again System ---> Preferences ---> More Preferences ---> Multimedia Systems Selector and the video just worked with v4l plugin. But the problem with the skype remains. And now when I tried to test the video from skype options the skype just closes itself. When I start Skype from console when the program is crashed i see this:
Any idea? |

I installed Kopete in CentOS 5 but the camera doesn't work too neither in Skyper nor in Kopete. In Kopete I see only black screen and the LED indicator of the camera shows that the camera works.

Those seem to be mutually contradictory statements.

Hmm. The correct driver is present and loaded. It could be that the camera is outputting data in a format that the test software cannot understand. Did you try with the original Video for Linux (v4l)? |

Assuming you use a Gnome desktop then, while running kernel-ml-2.6.39-4.1.el5.elrepo, take the following sequence for testing --
System ---> Preferences ---> More Preferences ---> Multimedia Systems Selector Now select the Video tab, set the Default Input Plugin to Video for Linux 2 (v4l2) and left-click on Test. If the correct driver has been selected and loaded, you should see a test display showing the image that the camera is capturing. |

I'd go with the LiveDVD unless you have a reason to do otherwise - more features. |

Whilst running kernel-ml-2.6.39-4.1.el5.elrepo, what does the following command line show --
The gspca_zc3xx module, perhaps? If so, is it loaded? |

I installed kernel-ml. First I had the problem with startX and I had to uninstall Nvidia driver to be able to startX.
I success startx without Nvidia driver. Now I tried camera with Skype but it still doesn't work. Is it possible to be a problem that the system starts without Nvidia driver or doesn't matter? |

You can install things like Skype using the LiveCD/DVD - they just won't survive a reboot unless using persistence.
