We use CentOS : LiquidCore, I-Ware & Quanta - a new server running CentOS 5.3
Posted by fakemoth on 2009/8/11 6:00:00 (1059 reads)

LiquidCore.RO, I-Ware and Quanta SRL announces that our custom new server, the second one, runs the latest release of your great linux distro, CentOS 5.3.

The main job for the server is to deliver websites, galleries and forums, mostly based on Joomla and phpBB, the e-mails with Postfix & Dovecot etc, but also to offer web hosting to our friends and a few clients. We use Webmin, Usermin and Virtualmin PRO as the access, management and hosting panels. It also stands for a DNS, file and FTP server. It is not a big business but rather a personal and a non-profit one to bring the latest news, reviews, benchmarks, "how to"s in games, hardware and software to the romanian enthusiastic community.

Thank you CentOS!

Projects based on CentOS : CentOs File Server
Posted by Unregistered Visitor on 2009/8/11 6:00:00 (8509 reads)

We saved one of our clients thousands of dollars migrating file servers from a Windows File server environment to a Samba Centos Server. In fact, during the last virus scare our client called us worried about the so called April Fools virus. We told them not to worry that their File Server was protected due to it being on CentOS. :) Got to love Linux! especially CentOS!! :)

Thomas E.

We use CentOS : Linux Mail Server
Posted by Unregistered Visitor on 2009/8/11 6:00:00 (2020 reads)

We recently migrated our last windows server! We were using microsoft Exchange 2003. We had to stay on the Windows Server because of our dependency of Blackberry devices. Fortunately we found a fantastic mail server called Kerio and ported into CentOS 5.2 and we have never looked back. In fact we found our new Linux Mail Server could handle thousands of emails at a lower CPU and memory. Our migration was so successful on CentOS and Kerio we decided to become resellers of the product.

Sincerely,
Thomas Echevarria

We use CentOS : White Horse Creative uses CentOS5 for development
Posted by Unregistered Visitor on 2009/8/11 6:00:00 (13442 reads)

We use CentOS5 at White Horse Creative for development work based on the Drupal CMS. The combination of stability and performance is great. And it just works. For those reasons, there really is no other choice for us.

Our development machine:

Supermicro motherboard
Quad Core Intel CPU
8 GB OCZ RAM
1 500GB Western Digital SATA
1 RAID0 array w/ 2 Atlas 10K Maxtors
on an LSI controler

The heavier duty apps this machine runs are as follows:

IPTABLES gateway
SQUID reverse caching proxy
APACHE webserver
PHP
MYSQL
NFS
BAZAAR version management

The most important thing to us is stability. But we also need performance. Out of the box CentOS gives us both whether it's our primary development server or laptops. Of course we've seen benefits tuning to our specific workloads. But that is just icing on the cake. Thanks so much CentOS.

We use CentOS : OASI: middleware platform based on CentOS
Posted by Unregistered Visitor on 2008/9/13 11:03:19 (9509 reads)

OASI (Open Available Secure Integrated) is an open source middleware platform for development and supply of software services.
OASI platform is a standard CentOS 4 installation, performed with kickstart via network or DVD.
After installation, packages from OASI repository can be downloaded and installed.
With those packages you can setup OASI Cluster, an high availability cluster solution configured with DRBD-HA.
Furthermore you can install OASIC, a text Console to easily create structured and scalable JBoss infrastructures.
For more information have a look to OASI official website, and to OASI project section on SourceForge.
See SourceForge's wiki for details about installation and configuration.

Wemoto On-Line Motorcycle Parts Retailer have been using CentOS for our PostgreSQL database servers, Apache web servers and Sendmail mail servers for the past year and are extremely satisfied with the results. Our hardware includes IBM x3655 twin processor dual core AMD Opterons, generic AMD dual core x86_64 Althlons and HP Proliant quad core Xeon systems, CentOS loaded and runs faultlessly on all of them. We certainly recommend CentOS as a robust operating system for any application.
