Re: Is Overlay2 the default storage driver on CentOS 7.5?

Looks like it's not even on CentOS 7.5 as the kernel is only 3.10, whereas overlay2 is part of 3.18+

Is this right? :/

I may have confused it with overlayFS: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=63629&p=268391&hil ... ay#p267880

Is Overlay2 the default storage driver on CentOS 7.5?

Or is it installed by default and available for tools like Docker to use?

Have you thought about upgrading the forum to Discourse?

I love CentOS and I appreciate everything everyone does to keep the community going - you are all great :D However I feel you are being let down terribly by this archaic forum platform, can you please consider upgrading to Discourse? They even offer free hosting to larger open source projects like C...

OverlayFS - will it be used by default in 7.4?

Does anyone know if it will be activated by default in CentOS 7.4 when it comes ou...

Re: Is it ok to upgrade my kernel to 4.12?

Thanks for the reply Trevor. Unfortunately somebody has reported issues with the backport: https://adminswerk.de/overlayfs-docker-storage-driver-centos-7 While testing overlay on kernel 3.10, I got errors while running docker build. Specifically I got errors when doing an rm on files of an underlyin...

Is it ok to upgrade my kernel to 4.12?

I've done a yum update and I'm still on 3.10 (I'm on Centos 7.3) I'm using Docker and they don't like Devicemapper, and have advised overlayfs instead - I've read this only works well with the newer kernels so I'm thinking about updating as per this guide: https://www.tecmint.com/install-upgrade-ker...
