Re: latest dnf update puts space after every character in gnome-terminal
"The terminal usually looks like that if you're not using a monospaced font. It's just how the terminal renders text. Try changing the font in your terminal settings to a monospaced one." I did not know how to change a terminal font, and google led me to these instructions: https://help.gnome.org/us...

[Solved] latest dnf update puts space after every character in gnome-terminal
I'm running Centos 9 Stream on a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 laptop. I just reinstalled from USB stick that is several months old. It loaded the 5.14.0-30 kernel, and I was able to then log in and run terminal windows and firefox normally. I then ran "dnf update" in a terminal window as root, updating to ...

9 Stream dnf update failure -- related to podman dependency version conflicts?
A great many other packages updated successfully, but afterwards a few fail repeatedly: [root@stream1 ~]# dnf update Last metadata expiration check: 3:19:46 ago on Wed 30 Nov 2022 10:19:22 AM EST. Dependencies resolved. ================================================================================...

Re: Centos 8, UEFI and software RAID
Your post is a little hard to read all embedded in code tags. Suggest editing to have only the actual command line content tagged... Sorry about that. When I tried to do that it seemed like nothing was appearing in my post except the code-blocked stuff? But now it seems like I'm having more luck, a...

Re: Centos 8, UEFI and software RAID
I have several Centos 7 servers running with /boot/efi implemented as a RAID1 mirror, like this: [root@webserver3 ~]# lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sda 8:0 0 931.5G 0 disk ├─sda1 8:1 0 1G 0 part │ └─md126 9:126 0 1023M 0 raid1 /boot ├─sda2 8:2 0 1G 0 part │ └─md125 9:125 0 1G 0 raid...

Re: [SOLVED] CentOS 8.1.1911: Can't install "nagios-plugins-all-2.3.3-1.el8.x86_64" due to missing PERL dependencies
I experienced the same issue in Centos 8.2.2004: [root ~]# uname -a Linux server 4.18.0-193.19.1.el8_2.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Sep 14 14:37:00 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux [root@ ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS Linux release 8.2.2004 (Core) But the dnf commands given in the previous comment ...

firefox error on specific website after 7.7 upgrade
After updating by Centos Workstation to 7.7 via "yum update", I find that I cannot log into a particular website (https://login.mailgun.com/login/) any more. When I enter my email address at the usual prompt and click [next], I get the error: "The CSRF session token is missing." The site presents a ...

Re: Centos 7.6 RAID5 physical system will not boot after single drive failure
This is less of an actual solution to my problem, and more of a realization that my expectations of "md+lvm" software RAID were perhaps more than realistic. I was perhaps asking too much to expect "md+lvm" to boot with a hard disk suddenly and mysteriously vanished. When a drive (or a partition of a...

Re: Centos 7.6 RAID5 physical system will not boot after single drive failure
When I remove the "rhgb quiet" from the grub entry, I see a lot of extra verbiage but end up in the same place. I cannot scroll back (I'm on an old KVM switch), but it seems like everything on the screen is a subset of what I can see by running "journalctl" The line that fails is very near the end. ...

Centos 7.6 RAID5 physical system will not boot after single drive failure
Hello, I recently built a Centos 7.6 server with 4 identical 500GB drives, using the Anaconda installer from a local Centos 7.6 DVD. The BIOS settings give me EFI rather than bios boot. Using "manual partitioning" in the disk sub-menu, I generated a small four-way RAID1 mirror holding the "/boot" an...
