Re: Couple of questions regarding CentOS 7

Why thank you mr Trevor. There was no doubt in my mind you'll have the answer. Does the graphical updater do the same thing, or is it really recommended to yum update? So if i understood correctly, yum update upgrades automatically to a point release and newer DE and packages. Thanks. (comapred to o...

Re: Couple of questions regarding CentOS 7

Just to necromance a wee bit:

On a fresh install of CentOS 7, I see that gnoem is also updated to 3.22. So my question is:

Does the system update/upgrade itself normally to newer point releases, or do you have to download and manually install the new point release the way SUSE does?

Thanks!

Hi,

Running CentOS 7.2 and with stock Firefox it won't run videos on sites such as Twitter. I get the following issue:

Any idea how I could fix it? flash-plugin is installed from the adobe repo.

God bless you, CentOS folk!

First time running CentOS for a longer period. First time i don't have ANY issues running linux as a home/work laptop system. I've had quirks and glitches even on Debian, but none on CentOS. Love GNOME, so that's a plus also. I'm actually amazed more people don't use it, it's a rock. Kind regards an...

Re: Couple of questions regarding CentOS 7

Thanks again mr Trevor, just one more noob question. Siffing through various docs, I can't find something that would in layman terms explain what's the differende between /boot/efi and /boot. Should one come before another? So for example, can i partition this way: /boot/efi (500 megs) /boot (1GiB) ...

Re: Couple of questions regarding CentOS 7

Thanks a lot for your answer. If i partition a 500gb disk like this: 500 MB /boot/efi 40 GB / everything else sans swap /home 4GB swap In that order, should be OK i presume? Thanks. (I'm asking since some distros gad quirks in the sense i had to put swap second after the efi partition... don't know ...

Couple of questions regarding CentOS 7

Hi Just a couple of questions before leaving you lot alone :) 1) I prefer to not use gnome classic, but gnome as-is. I suppose that's not a problem, since you only have to select it at gdm login? There are no quirks expected? 2) When I do a fresh install, for an ordinary laptop user, is there any vi...

Re: Too hard to configure

But why not on the desktop? Adding a repo or two is easy, and after that: does it play your music - yes does vlc chew everything you throw at it? - yes. does it have a browser? - yes. In my experience, this is the most a 'normal' user needs, and i don't see why they wouldn't also run centos. P.S.: A...
