Just to necromance a wee bit:

On a fresh install of CentOS 7, I see that gnoem is also updated to 3.22. So my question is:

Does the system update/upgrade itself normally to newer point releases, or do you have to download and manually install the new point release the way SUSE does?

Installed from DVD, no issues anymore. Works like a charm!

But why not on the desktop? Adding a repo or two is easy, and after that: does it play your music - yes does vlc chew everything you throw at it? - yes. does it have a browser? - yes.
