Re: Mysterious 12 minute pause in boot

Shouldn't that be systemctl disable ntpd, and systemctl enable ntpd plus systemctl start ntpd?

Re: DNS/Fake domain on my private network *super newbie*

Will they be using your wireless router to access it?
If so, could you see if there's an option on the router to set local domain names?

Re: Notification upon successful backup bash script

I have never used mailx before, but it has an "-a" option which attaches a file. I guess you could write the info to this file and then attach it, e.g. something like: /bin/ls -l /full/path/to/directory > /temp/mail-attachment.txt $CAT $MAILFILE | $MAILER -s "V1 Server Needs Your Atte...

Re: libstdc++.so.6: version `CXXABI_1.3.9' not found

Probably barking up the wrong tree: You're checking for the 32 bit version of the library, whereas it looks like your software is 64 bit?
Check and maybe reinstall the 64 bit version? Also, given that it worked up to yesterday, either the OS, setup or software must have changed?

Re: Need CPU support in 6.6

Will you retire the old system?
If so, I guess you had (still have?) a working system. Would it then be possible to setup the new system and use e.g. NFS to transfer the data?

Re: Migrate boot from /(/dev/sda1) to /boot(/dev/sdb1)

Why do you want to do this?
What's your partition layout on sda and sdb? Is / still on sda?
Any error messages?

Re: tune Network Interface performance

I haven't done anything like this, but you may want to look at this: - most servers comes with several network interfaces: set up a separate network (maybe together with jumbo frames), i.e. you don't have to share it with other traffic - if it's a one time transfer: compress -> transfer -> decompres...

Re: CentOS Crash. Cannot determine if it is a HW or SW issue

Run a memory test with e.g. memtest86+.
Use stresslinux to stress the CPU.
You could also try to reseat all internal cables, DIMMs, cards etc.

Re: Using Ultrium 7 WORM tapes

As suggested, use tar -xvf: x=extract, t=list.
And I seem to remember that it will extract to the current path, i.e. make sure you don't overwrite something important.

Re: CentOS7 and HighPoint RocketRAID 2720

Could you see if there's a firmware upgrade?
You could also take out the disks, connect them to non-RAID sata ports and wipe the beginning of the disk.
This may remove any remnants of RAID setups and MBR's.
