Re: CentOS 6 as a proprietary firmware

Then what is the real practical purpose of the phase of support CentOS 6 is in now?

Re: CentOS 6 as a proprietary firmware

Could you show me some examples of unfixed non-critical vulnerabilities causing a security breach (e.g. from CentOS 5) or some real danger or loss?

Either a real occurrence in the past or just a package that you know having a wontfix, non-critical vulnerability.

Re: CentOS 6 as a proprietary firmware

Re: CentOS 6 as a proprietary firmware

Thanks for mentioning but I have already checked the Known Issues section of CentOS 6.9 Release Notes and none of the issues will affect my goals. From my perspective it is getting more stable since security flaws and critical bugs will still get fixed - if I get it right from the Product Specificat...

CentOS 6 as a proprietary firmware

CentOS 6 is really stable and well-maintained packages with lots of bug fixes and without additional features. So it will get more and more stable till the end of support, 2020. Assume that I develop a product which I sell for money. Let it be a professional network router. I ship it with CentOS on ...

Google Chrome - Something went wrong when opening your profile

I installed chrome-deps-stable from nux repos to mx CentOS 6 box, then installed google-chrome-stable from official repos of Google. All succeeded. The problem is when I close Chrome, the application stays in the background and will never exit. Also, there is a defunct chrome process. test 3321 2.2 ...

Uniform look for GTK2 apps under KDE

It will load in all GTK2 applicatoins. However, under KDE it switches back to Cleanlooks (regardless of the Xfce setting). I would like to...

Re: Updating Chrome Browser on Linux CentOS 6

Couldn't we just use /opt/google-chrome/bin installation targets and place the new libstdc there to make Chrome completely independent from the system?

Re: Custom .repo files for each extra package

I know that and I could take it into effect. However, I can't make it work for package groups, like Xfce . Xfce with capital X refers to a package group while package names have non-capital letters, like xfce4-session . I install package groups using yum groupinstall pkg_group . That would include a...
