Re: Changing default /home/dir permissions

Are you sure its reading from /etc/bash and not /etc/login.defs? My UMASK in bashrc is 002 and when I created a new user and look at the permissions of the directory it is 700. If it read from bashrc wouldnt it be 775? My login.defs UMASK is 077 which would make the dir 700.

Re: mount share

About the auto-dismount - it works in Fedora 25 but not in RHEL/CentOS and I rose a bug in bugzilla.redhat.com. The option should be something like x-systemd.idle-timeout="1min" What is the command you use to mount the share as the structure is the one you have used? Edit: Are you sure that there i...

wheel group

I am new to linux and I added myself into the wheel group. I can;t seem to do anything (adduser). If I take myself out of the wheel group and just add myself to /etc/sudoers then I can use sudo to run what I want. My question is why isn't adding myself to the wheel group enough?

mount share

I have a share on my synolgy NAS. I can manually mount it doing mount -t cifs //IP_Address/Share_name -o username=admin, password=pass /mnt/snylolgy This works but is this the correct way to do it or is there another way? I rather not have the password exposed. In order to get this working on a reboo...

MP3 issue

I am new to Centos7 and I mapped my Synology drive where my MP3's are stored. I am trying to use Rhythmbox but nothing plays. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to install something else to get MP3's to play?

Thanks.
