How to *actually* set keyboard layout to Italian?

Hello, I'm running CentOS 7 on a dual-partitioned 64 bit Dell laptop. I've connected an external keyboard, also by Dell but when I started typing I realized that instead of the Italian layout it has automatically adopted the US/UK layout. I played around with localctl but to no avail -- after reboot...

Re: Epson network printer, filter problem?

Sorry for the long hiatus, had some urgent stuff to take care of. Last week I downloaded a newer version of the printer's drivers from Epson's website ( epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.6.20-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm , version "20" for simplicity's sake). Today, strangely enough the same page says no drivers are...

Re: Epson network printer, filter problem?

If you really want to concatenate to the printer, spool your job in the printer language (PostScript for example) and then cat that file out to the printer. That *should* work. So what cmd would I write? Something like this..? lp -d epson < cat file1.pdf Failing that, I'd sent the printer back and ...

Re: Epson network printer, filter problem?

Tried that first -- print queue gave error msg. Said the remote host isn't responding, unable to communicate. The filter indicated in the /etc/cups/ppd/epson.ppd file (for the root user) is /usr/share/cups/model/Epson[bla bla bla].ppd . Should it be different? Something like "mono..." instead of "Ep...

Epson network printer, filter problem?

For months I've been trying to get the all-in-one Epson printer + scanner (Stylus SX535WD, [link] ) to work properly with CentOS 6 (32 bit arch). It's a network printer, meaning I can decide either to connect to it via USB or over the WiFi. Now, I tried setting it as a network printer, calling it ep...

[SOLVED] Re: Android phone (5.0) doesn't get recognized by "jmtpfs"

Got it! Used another kernel at boot time (not the one that ends with "..Plus", 2.6.32-696.20.1.el6.i686 as per uname -r ). Phone must be unlocked. Now I get, for instance: [dolly@centos media]$ ls -hl total 6.0K dr-x------. 2 dolly dolly 164 Jun 30 2015 cdrom_install drwxr-xr-x. 2 dolly dolly 4.0K F...

Re: Android phone (5.0) doesn't get recognized by "jmtpfs"

A few updates: Tried [dolly@centos /]$ sudo yum search simple-mtpfs but output was: <output omitted> Warning: No matches found for: simple-mtpfs No Matches found [dolly@centos /]$ This pkg may be not available for CentOS 6. Removed last line from the /etc/fstab file (the one about jmtpfs), ran sudo ...

Re: Android phone (5.0) doesn't get recognized by "jmtpfs"

Given that [dolly@centos media]$ lsusb | grep ASUS Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0b05:5f02 ASUSTek Computer, Inc. I created the following rule: [dolly@centos media]$ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/91-android.rules SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0b05", ATTR{idProduct}=="5f02", MODE=="0666", GROUP="dolly" Is that...

Re: Android phone (5.0) doesn't get recognized by "jmtpfs"

I use simple-mtpfs [...] I can just type sudo simple-mtpfs /mnt (for example) and can then access the phone's contents in the /mnt directory. [...] This is on CentOS-7.x, I don't remember how well it worked on 6.x I'll give it a try. I don't need to write any entry into the /etc/fstab file, right? ...
