library XDR
Hi, I'm having problem with a software (commercial) that is using the libmnf which in turn is looking for the xdr-library (this is my understanding, but I have limited knowledge of system stuff). My OS is centos 8.3. I have googled a bit and found that it is related to the removal of the (Sun)rpc-pa...

Re: install depreceated version of libicu
thanks for the tips tank and BShT! The software is critical for our research, but on the other hand it's not the only software that will be running on our new cluster (40 nodes with 2000+ cores). Installing an "old" OS doesn't feel so attractive :) I tried your trick, BShT, to copy the ibicui18n.so....

Re: install depreceated version of libicu
That is unfortunately not possible (for me) since it's a commercial sw. They will eventually fix the current version, but we are using older versions in parallel and I'm pretty sure they will not update those. The "funny" thing is that versions older than four years of the sw work on centOs 8... I g...

install depreceated version of libicu
Hi, I'm trying to install a software on a centOs 8 system and having trouble since it requires libicu-50 (libicu-60 is installed by default). I tried to make a quick-and-dirty solution by making softlinks from libicui18n.so.50 -> libicui18n.so.60 (and the other libicu libraries). That just ended up ...

Re: Advice on user management
ok, I read somewhere that freeIPA also was depreciated from 8(?). Not true then I guess? I'll have a look at 389-ds. Which one of them would you recommend? (least pain for a moderately skilled adm) A possible future application would be an internal website. Can one use any of those two for handling ...

Advice on user management
Hi! we are about to install a new medium/small computer cluster with centos 8. It will consist of 20 nodes and 30-40 users. There will be about 10-15 guest users that comes and goes per year. There will probably be tree user categories with different privileges, user, lightweight-user and guest. My ...

set LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8
Hi, I have a bit of problem with the locale variables. In the "settings/Region & Language" I have set the Language to English (us) and the Formats to Sweden. However, I need to set the variable LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8 for a specific software to work. I could solve it by setting the variable in the sh...

It was when I plugged in it directly. I get nothing when I plug in/pull out the receiver.
