Re: blocking mariadb

Of course we need it. It's what we use. The only reason to fork is to do something different so mariaDB is either not compatible now or will not be compatible in the near future. That is not acceptable in an enterprise environment. red hat have done a great job of dismantling the sole reason to choo...

Re: CentOS slows down when copying large files

I notice your specification is similar to ours so just thought I'd mention we have an issue with large/multiple file copies. I dont know if this is related but I found that copying off large files (to test just copy everything off) to an external drive causes centos to tell us its safe to remove the...

Re: blocking mariadb

It isn't the same as the system I need the machine to be compatible with so has to go for security and support reasons alone. The fact that it insinuates itself all over the system makes applications unpredictable and sadly is just one more nail in the centos coffin here. It is just one more too big...

blocking mariadb

I'm just going through the process of removing mariaDB to make a Centos-7 system compatible with Centos-6 and read that mariaDB features may keep trying to install? If that's so is there any way I can prevent that happening? My specific requirement at the moment is a LAMP installation so thats mainl...

Re: re-install util-linux-ng

Hi Trevor Base seems to be installed ok - I just did a re-install of sed which went fine. What I did just notice is that I have util-linux-ng installed and originally was trying to re-install that. Then I read somewhere that it had been replaced with uti-linux (ie '-ng' not required) so I tried that...

joomla zero day

just thought I'd mention while I was here that I had my first ever joomla zero day attack this morning (timed around system nightly cron time - beware attempts in your logs - they can be hidden well with other activity) Since I dont run joomla (or anything using json) it isnt an issue but I did wond...

I tried just util-linux with a similar story.
(from base - not available)

Is this me trying do something I shouldn't or something else?

thanks

Okular Page Width Varying

Okular V 0.16.5 Centos 7 Viewing PDF files with Okular results in widely varying page widths in documents that have no variations. The pages that vary remain the same - ie. something on the page is probably triggering it. The same documents on centos 6 or on windows 7 display correctly. I have tried...

Re: USB-3 file transfer speed indications

Hi Neither partition is fragmented hardly at all. (I did think of that initially) I deleted the folder and tried on win7-64 and it copied smoothly at about 28MB/s (That one is an old PC with USB3 card) There is some minor movement but when it settles down it's fairly stable. On Centos the speed is c...

USB-3 file transfer speed indications

I'm running Centos 7 on an intel i7-8700 system with 32GB ram. The drive is a GPT 4TB WD Elements with 2 partitions both formatted NTFS I'm using NTFS-3g. The copy is from partition 1 to partition 2. I am using a USB 3 port with the supplied drive cable connected. While trying to copy a folder conta...
