IPTables REJECT not blocking port 80
My server has been getting frequent attempts from a device on 89.144.x.x. There is nothing on the server for anyone on that network so I tried blocking all access via IPTables. iptables -L -n |grep 89.144 REJECT tcp -- 89.144.0.0/16 0.0.0.0/0 state NEW tcp reject-with icmp-port-unreachable But the l...

Can't remove directory
Had a problem on my server. Tried to rsync off the C 8 server to another device, that failed and ran the / volume out of disk space. I cleaned up the disk problem. Somehow the backup script created a folder off /mnt called ElmwoodPark but I can't access or remove it. I tried rm -fr * from the /mnt d...

Re: Samba Server Not Appearing
Thank you. I'd fat-fingered the ipaddress typing 3.87 instead of 3.7, changed to correct address, restarted nmb and it's working.

Samba Server Not Appearing
Recent install of CentOS 8 replacing CentOS 5 and 6. The /etc/samba/smb.conf is similar to that from the Cent 5 and 6 servers. On Windows 10 computers clicking Network in explore window the Cent 5 and 6 servers appear in the right window, the Centos 8 server does not appear. I can access the Cent 8 ...

Re: Accessing Buffalo NAS
Saw on another forum someone had similar problem. Another user suggested appending ,vers=2.0 to the mount command line. Tried that but had same host down error. Changed to vers=1.0 and was able to mount the NAS.

Re: Accessing Buffalo NAS
I installed cifs-utils which solved the original problem but now after being prompted for and entering my password it fails with "mount error(112) host is down" error. I'm connected to the NAS on a Windows 10 laptop so I know it's not down.

Sony Vaio Ethernet
New install of CentOS 8. The built in Ethernet controller isn't configured. Running lspci shows 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13). I've gone through all menus but can't find any way to configure this device.

Accessing Buffalo NAS
I recently installed CentOS 8 on Sony Vaio laptop. I had copied files off the Vaio to a Buffalo 4TB NAS prior to removing CentOS 7 from the Vaio in preparation for 8. Now that 8 is running I can't access the Buffalo device. I tried mounting it with the command mount -t cifs //192.168.3.62/users /mnt...
