Re: connexion a internet

As mentioned above - just use BRIDGE MODE and be done with it.

Re: DNS Server as a limited content filter

No, you put the hosts file on WHATEVER box or boxes that you would have put the BIND server on, or put it on the edge firewall and set the internal workstations to use the edge firewall as their DNS source. The trick is to enforce that ALL workstations only use the box(es) that have the host file. T...

Re: DNS Server as a limited content filter

However, I'm looking for configuration ideas to use my own bind server to accomplish the filtering. Unless you have a very short whitelist, and plan on banning EVERYTHING else, you can't - it would take more then a full time staff member to keep your filters up to date. If you have a short whitelis...

Re: Can it be this simple?

As long as you have a copy of the old server - pay for results. If the "expert" actually does move everything across and it works per your specifications, then Yipee!, if not, don't pay the guy. Just be sure to change ALL passwords the moment after the job is complete. But sounds fishy. There is NO ...

Re: DNS Server as a limited content filter

DYN Internet Guide Pro (it's hard to find the pro services, I had to call a sales rep to get setup - their free service doesn't have multiple subnet options nor is it legal for business use). It's DNS content filtering with around 40 categories plus white/black lists. 10 networks (of any subnet size...

Re: Way to only allow SFTP/SSH and restrict unsecure FTP?

Yes - don't run a FTP server.

SFTP runs over SSH.

Re: grub boot problem 6.5 64 bit

Looks like those all are SATA devices, if so, you need to set the SATA ports to use AHCI mode instead of IDE mode (for much better performance). Personally, I would install Windows 7 on the 1st HD and format the 2nd HD as NTFS. Then install the free VirtualBox on Win7 and setup two VM's on the 2nd H...

Re: dhcpd server?

Why do the uninformed think that hardening a FULL BLOWN distro into something that kindof sortof almost is a firewall is just a few google articles away? Take a quick peek at the source code for a real firewall (like PFSense or IPCop) and then tell us your grand plan for converting a FULL BLOWN Dist...

Re: Server won't reboot

Does any VM on that ESXi server boot?

If it's just that one CentOS VM, try the previous snapshot and see what happens, could either be a bad VM image, or a failing Host HD.
