Replying to myself if somebody else should have the same problem.
The issue was that file /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf.dist was missing from the disk. I just reinstalled the package and that solved the problem. Why the file was missing is still a mystery.

rpc_pipefs and nfsd automounts do not mount
All, I've got an odd problem. Mounts nfsd on /proc/fs/nfsd type nfsd (rw) sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw) do not mount automatically, but have to be manually mounted. I'm not quite sure at which point this has begun, but I'm quite sure it is only matter of weeks. Thus an updat...

Re: Bonding performance
Already tried different modes. Should have mentioned that.
The tests show that there is no real difference between modes. And as interfaces are not connected to the same switch, the modes avalable are limited.
Any other ideas?

Bonding performance
All, I have IBM BladeCenter with 2x ESM (Cisco). The idea is to bond the built-in broadcom ethernet-ports into one logical one for redundancy. No trouble there. Bonding works. The trouble is with performance, writing data over network to the server takes about 45% more time. What could cause this de...
