Re: Minimal iso ?
I almost got a script ready yesterday. It pulls the Core group and all dependencies and rebuilds the repository. There are a few packages from AppStream as well so it's also needed. I got the installer to recognize the repos on the re-built ISO, but the Software Selection is empty so it does not ins...

Re: CentOS 8 repository organization
Copying a response from the devel mailing list: I have a todo item to explain this a little bit better on the wiki. Basically the problem is, starting on Day 1 we have the os/ repository populated with GA packages *and* updates (0-day updates and those that came in while we were in the middle of the...

CentOS 8 repository organization
Hi, How is the CentOS8 repository organized. I see that both BaseOS and AppStream have 2 subdirectories for each arch: os and kickstart. What is the purpose of the kickstart directory? BaseOS/x86_64/kickstart/Packages seems to have some basic set of packages, could this list be used to create a "min...

Re: Can't login after cloning disk. (SELinux)
SELinux stores additional file permissions (called context) and tar does not save/restore that information (some other programs, like dar will). The files are not labeled with correct SELinux context so the rules are not working correctly. You have several options: - use a backup/restore procedure t...

Re: CentOS 8.0.1905 build status
Module stream versions are tied to certain timestamps which means you can't rebuild the RHEL or Fedora and get the exact same version name. Does this mean that CentOS will no longer be 1:1 with RHEL because the names of the RPMS will no longer be the same? Or is there some plan to 'change buildtime...

Re: [SOLVED] Update 7.6 killed vsftpd
OMG, really? /sbin/nologin was **specifically** added to allow ftp logins while disallowing shell logins. Now somebody thinks that's a vulnerability? NO IT'S NOT, IT'S SUPPOSED TO WORK THAT WAY, it's even listed in the RHCSA materials! "Under some circumstances, users which had their shell changed t...

Re: 6.8 rollback or fix?
You can try only reversing kernel to the latest from 6.7. Usually kernel is not that tied to the other system software and most of the hw related problems are caused by kernel issues. This is also the easiest option (as you can have multiple kernel versions installed and in case of even bigger probl...

Use zend opcache (http://php.net/manual/en/book.opcache.php).
AFAIK it's already included in php >5.5
