Re: How do i change kernel command line?
Hi, i tried these two commands: grub2-mkconfig > /etc/grub2.cfg grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg However i think i found my problem. It is mostly unrelated to grub. The / partition on this system uses md raid1. At the time of my problems, the raid1 mirror was broken; i didnt notice that. Durin...

Hi, i have Centos8 installed, but want to add/remove some kernel command line options. The installer automatically added "acpi=off". How do i remove that? Re: Bootable Software RAID 1
so your /var is having the problem.
What does "mdadm --examine --verbose /dev/sda5" say?
Can you manually start the /var array?
mdadm --assemble --run --verbose --uuid=1017d6c0:7a812ebf:170a75a2:b7bf5be3
or
mdadm --assemble --scan

Re: Bootable Software RAID 1
Hi, i think you have something else different. If you still have the nonworking system, can you please post the output of the following commands: (If it does not boot, use boot from DVD into "rescue" and chroot. Or try to bring it up with "mdadm --assemble --scan" at the dracut prompt) # cat /etc/md...

LVM breaks SSD TRIM discard
Hi, i am trying to install SSD disks with software mirroring for fault tolerance. This guide, Chapter 22.1 explains why md-raid1 is a bad idea, and to use LVM dm-mirror instead: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/Storage_Administration_Guide/ch-ssd.html I c...

[Solution] Dell XPS17 L702x nvidia GT 555M OOPS
Hello, had big problems installing a new Dell notebook XPS17 L702x . The graphics card is a nVidia GT 555M (also called optimus). Centos 6.0 works fine (both DVD-installer and resulting installation - kernel 2.6.32-71). Centos 6.2 has an OOPS very early in the kernel (both the install-DVD-boot, and ...

Re: SATA shutdown problem
Hello Alan, i am not a SMART guru, but i interpreted this differently: This or in my thinking is a synonym for "in other words", not a logical or. The emergency retract would only happen if the disk is powered off without proper shutdown. At normal shutdown, no emergency retract should happen...
