Re: Android phone (5.0) doesn't get recognized by "jmtpfs"

I use simple-mtpfs which works quite well for me. I plug in the phone, then type sudo simple-mtpfs -l and it usually sees the phone. Sometimes, on the phone there will be a notification asking if I want to allow it, I don't remember that with Android 5, this is version 7.0 I tap OK on the phone scre...

Re: Learning CentOS 7

RHEL-7 and therefore CentOS-7 is based on Fedora-19, I think. You may be able to find old Fedora 19 books (it's on version 27 now) cheaply on Amazon or elsewhere. Back in the CentOS-5 days, I remember finding the Negus books, which were really good, for Fedora 6 or 7, very cheaply on Amazon, because...

Re: Problems with CentOS 7 audio

Do you have pulseaudio installed? Are you using Firefox? By default, it only works with pulseaudio, not alsa.

Re: im-chooser

Depending upon what language you're using, you may wish to try fcitx instead. I have a page about using it with Japanese at http://srobb.net/jpninpt.html#CentOS6 that talks about it, (and has a few tips for ibus as well).

Re: Can we Setup Email server on centos 5?

CentOS-5 is EOL (End of Life) and no longer receives updates. You would be much better off using a later version.

As for what mail to use, postfix is quite popular and well documented.

Re: increasing partition size

You should always make backups. You don't specify if it's an LVM partition or not. If it's an LVM partition, I have a page with links to better pages at http://srobb.net/lvm.html If it's not, then the easiest way to do it is with the graphic gparted. The partition should be unmounted I think, so you...

Re: chrome for youtube!!!

This may have been because firefox now requires pulseaudio for sound.

(These days, most people seem to have pulse installed, so don't notice.)

Re: Screen resolution in text mode

You can change the font by editing /etc/vconsole.conf (I think--I'm on CentOS-7x right now but I believe the file exists).

You can choose something from /usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts. This doesn't change the actual resolution but you can choose a larger or small font.

Re: Cannot read from/write to internal card Samsung Galaxy On5

Can you write to anything on the phone? I use simple-mtpfs a command line tool, and it lets me write to and from my phone . What are you using to try and write?
