SSL Certificate

I'm sure this is an old subject but I can't find the solution on the internet. When my SSL certificate was nearing expiration I tried creating a new one using genkey as suggested by the messages I was receiving. Genkey did not create the certificate where the old one was so I moved the one created b...

libpq.so.3

I've been running this CentOS 4.7 box for a little more than a year, updating with yum regularly (every few weeks lately). With the latest updates it fails, reportedly because I'm missing libpq.so.3 which is needed by packages perl-DBD-Pg, mod_auth_pgsql and php-pgsql. But the file IS there, in /usr...

Re: Swap space size questions

256M is the max RAM for this computer but it runs beautifully. It certainly seems faster than my 6-month-old XP with 1G. Obviously you know more than I and I've never seen this computer use much swap (while I was looking anyway) but I don't think it did any harm either, having 2G. Over the past few ...

Re: Swap space size questions

Don't you sometimes needs lots of swap? For example, installing Oracle you need 2G and I'm pretty sure that's regardless of how much RAM you have. I have 256M of RAM and 2G of swap on this box. I assumed with so little RAM I could prevent locking the system up with the large swap. If I start having ...

Re: Oversized log record

So if I ignore it, all traffic is still being logged and if I add '\"%!414r\"' to the LogFormat directive, buffer overflow attacks won't get logged?

Thanks again,

Oversized log record

After someone tried a buffer overflow attack I started getting a message from cron like this: /etc/cron.daily/00webalizer: Error: Skipping oversized log record Webalizer.conf says that the logfile is /var/log/httpd/access_log but I look at that file and it's empty. This must be why there's nothing w...

Re: Suspect Internet Connection

Turns out it was a Gmail notifier. It ran even after signing out of Gmail and closing the tab. I had to also close the all other tabs and even then it continued to run for a while. I'm so paranoid, I was sure for a while that my server had been cracked.
