Re: RPM Database Borked

Your best hope for recovery is to use rpm2cpio sqlite-3.6.20-1.el6_7.2.x86_64.rpm | cpio -idm to unpack the rpm into the current working directory and then manually copy the files to their correct locations (as root) so that they can be found and rpm can access the database again. However, judging b...

Re: journald configuration

I looked at man journald.conf and the way I read that is that SystemMaxFileSize= is in bytes so perhaps not quite what you thought would happen. SystemMaxFileSize= and RuntimeMaxFileSize= control how large individual journal files may grow at maximum. This influences the granularity in which disk sp...

Re: LVM partition layout

The problem will be that the installer defaults to using all available space and divides it 50GB/the rest and leaves nothing left to create new filesystems or LVs. The only clean solution to that is to shrink /home and free up the space it uses - and it can often be enormous - on a 2TB disk / would ...

Re: Error: Unable to find kernel source code directory

You will need the matching kernel-ml-headers/devel package installed. The version number will need to match your running kernel so you might need to reboot into any new kernel that's installed as well. Do be aware that any kernel module that you build using this method will be specific to that parti...

Re: LVM partition layout

Yes, it's normal if you take the default partitioning scheme that the installer sets up. It's not actually 50/50 in percentage terms unless you just happen to have a 100GB disk. It actually defaults to setting up with 50GB allocated to / and the rest of the space in /home. Since it uses xfs by defau...

You're running the 7.5 kernel and that ELREpo kmod was built for a previous point release. There's a newer version of that available that's needed for 7.5

kmod-e100.x86_64 3.5.24-3.el7_5.elrepo elrepo

Use yum-cron - yum install yum-cron, then edit the config file to tell it what to do.

Re: Testing/tuning 40Gb/s networking on CentOS 7

Both servers are equipped with intel X710 , which is a 40Gb/s card
I presume there must be different models of X710 then as the ones I have are 4 x 10GbE not 40GbE.

iperf3 is in EPEL and, yes, it's designed for that very task.

Not to mention that you probably just broke your system rather badly...
