Re: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base/7/x86_64

Yeah, don't do that. While it may work it's just covering up the real problem. The yum variable $releasever gets set automatically from the package pointed to by distroverpkg= in yum.conf using the equivalent of running rpm -q --qf '%{version} centos-release and if it's not working then it's a sympt...

Re: CentOS slows down when copying large files

When you update the kernel you must reinstall the nvidia drivers. The ELRepo kmod-nvidia packages that allow the drivers to survive kernel updates only work with the distro kernels so if you were using those before you'll have to switch to the ones from nvidia themselves.

Re: blocking mariadb

The only reason to fork is to do something different so mariaDB is either
One advantage of the fork is that it is free of a certain vendor that's not perceived as being particularly opensource friendly. See also OpenOffice/LibreOffice, Jenkins/Hudson and probably others over the years.

Re: Access Rocketek RT-SCR1 smart card reader

No expert on this here either. I do know that pcsc packages help with smartcard support so running `yum info` on each of those packages might help you to work out which ones you need to install. I would suspect pcsc-lite-ccid and that pulls in pcsc-lite itself. The -doc package wouldn't hurt either ...

Re: Access Rocketek RT-SCR1 smart card reader

What's the output of rpm -qa pcsc\* and if you run yum list pcsc\* do you have a number of choices available to install.

Re: how to update libtiff in centos7

You're going to have more problems than that. I went off and looked for Fedora SRPM packages that I could attempt to rebuild on CentOS 7 under mock. All the ones for 5.4 and 5.3 fail because nothing provides 'pkgconfig(libjpeg)' on CentOS 7. The 5.2.2 SRPM gets past that and then blows up saying tha...

Re: Access Rocketek RT-SCR1 smart card reader

You get no info listed in the output from dmesg when you plug/unplug the device?
