Re: 192.168.122.0

The default "desktop" install includes gnome-boxes which pulls in libvirt. It's a lightweight virtualisation thing. Easily uninstalled.

Re: Need suggestions on how to allow service restarts

No web pag based solution is ever going to be 100% secure.

I'd suggest using the command line and allowing the users access via sudo instead.

Re: Inbound file transfers very slow. Outbound are fine.

Both rsync and sftp use encrypted communication and it's possible that transfers using those will bottleneck on a single core of your processor. Test using a non-encrypted transfer protocol to eliminate that so you know if the problem is network or if you are just cpu bound.

Re: systemd timeout - httpd.service always fails

Can you explain how this is cPanel related?

This is not a systemd problem, it's an Apache httpd problem and the copy of that that you are running is cpanel's.

Re: gnome not mounting USB drives

There's a difference between having a device recognised (i.e you need usb_storage loaded) and having it auto-mounted. What is the output from rpm -qa \*gvfs\* ?

Re: yum install ssmtp doesn't find anything?

There is no graphical diff package for Centos? That's kinda hard to believe...

Well, that's a different question. Try yum search diff and see what you get from that. It'll find some things that are not at all applicable but others that might fit the bill.

Re: yum install ssmtp doesn't find anything?

If your app is packaged then the clean way to install it is to point yum at the package and install it that way - e.g. yum install /path/to/myapp.1.2.3.rpm. Doing it this way will pull in any dependencies that CentOS supplies from the CentOS yum repos (and any others that you have installed). To uni...

Re: Can't find req libs

Your package is not intended for use on CentOS 7 as it requires a newer glibc than we ship. There is nothing you can do about that except throw the package away and find one that is intended for CentOS 7. You cannot shoehorn a newer glibc into CentOS 7 without breaking everything so don't even try.

Re: yum install ssmtp doesn't find anything?

No, it won't because at least some of those are not intended for CentOS at all which is why using that site is a bad idea. Please see http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories for a list of yum repos that are designed to be used with CentOS. Some of those are ones that you've downloade...

Re: yum install ssmtp doesn't find anything?

centos.pkgs.org is not a CentOS site. It may have centos in its name but it belongs to pkgs.org not CentOS.

yum remove epel-release
yum --enablerepo=extras install epel-release
yum install ssmtp
