Re: bash script questions.

Ideally what you'd do is learn about packaging and create your own rpm containing your app. If you distribute this in the way that you are now you'll end up with a development environment on all the boxes you install it on. With a package you'll have that on your build machine and nowhere else.

Re: delcaring the script gloabally

An excellent guide for users that are new to Linux can be found at http://rute.gerdesas.com - while this is not official project documentation it is a well-regarded general introduction to Linux and may be of help. For an introduction to the bash shell take a look at http://linuxcommand.org/lc3_lear...

Re: Update OpenSSL to support TLS 1.2

No-one that cares one iota about security should be using CentOS 5 at all. It's been out of maintenance for nearly one year and is already accumulating enough serious security defects that make it untenable for production use. If you run CentOS 5, please note: it is dead. Migrate NOW to something th...

Re: Visit local website

Did that but is still keeps saying that is't unable to resolve the host address Not able to resolve the address means it cannot find the site by name. You did add it to _that_ system's hosts file? /etc/hosts or its Windows equivalent are only applicable to the system that they reside on - altering ...

Re: usleep change?

I suspect this has to do with the increase in HZ values between el5 and el6. Try booting CentOS 6 with 'divider=10' appended to the end of the kernel parameters and see if that helps. Not sure if this is still valid in CentOS 7 and it may require a different parameter to fix it there but worth trying.

Re: Visit local website

Yes, so run those again without --permanent or you need to reload firewalld or reboot. The --permanent flag adds the rule to the permanent list but doesn't affect the running rules.

Re: Visit local website

The issue is that www.linuxlab.lan is not the same thing as linuxlab.lan. You either need to change the url you visit to match the hosts file entry or you need to add or amend the hosts file entry to include the www. version of it.

10.0.2.15 linuxlab.lan linuxlab.lan

Doesn't list www.linuxlab.lan in that list so unless it's known by your DNS server, it won't be found.

Re: Barcode Datalogic Scanner Integration - Cent OS 5.5

we have around 1000 terminal with CentOS 5.5 I am speechless. You have 1000 systems that are no longer receiving security updates and from the fact that they run 5.5 never have received security updates . That's incredibly irresponsible and needs to be changed ASAP. Patch stuff. Not every 5 years b...
