Re: Kickstart custom initrd

You really really do not want to mess with the python version in any version of CentOS. All the system tools like yum etc are built on and rely upon the exact version of python that we ship. If you try to change it, they will all break. You can supply an updates.img or a product.img file in the same...

Re: Guest kernel panic after upgrading host kernel

Only the current CentOS version (7.5.1804 at the moment) is supported. You're not running that on either your host or your guest. If you doubt if you need to update please go read https://access.redhat.com/errata/#/?q=&p=1&sort=portal_publication_date%20desc&rows=10&documentKind=Errata&portal_produc...

Re: install lightweight gui on centos 7 server

That sounds like the usual vnc problem. Edit the systemd unit file that you created for this and add the line PAMName=login in the [service] section then do a systemctl daemon-reload to make it re-read that and then restart the service and try again.

Re: Guest kernel panic after upgrading host kernel

Update your guest. That 3.10.0-123 kernel is from the original 7.0 release from 2014. It's 4 years old, riddled with security bugs and unsafe to use. No idea if there is a specific fix in newer versions but the latest is 3.10.0-862.3.3.el7 so just 700+ revisions newer. There are over 65000 lines in ...

Re: CentOS ISO/Installer with newer linux kernel

Not in any way that is easy.

What's the real problem?

Re: Epel repository

That just announces the availability of the 32 bit version of CentOS 7. The OP already has that installed.

Re: Kickstart Configurator crashes when selecting Encrypt root password

Your 'password' check is pretty much what I ran here and it works perfectly for me. That means the problem is something specific to your machine and the settings on it - mine is a just a throwaway VM which I use for testing stuff and did a yum install system-config-kickstart then logged on, ran it d...
