Re: Virtualized CentOS 7 only boots in Rescue mode

The two VM types use different "hardware". Boot the rescue kernel and rebuild the correct initramfs file for the most recent kernel using dracut -f (plus other arguments to tell it which kernel version or it will overwrite the rescue one which is not what you want).

Re: Centos 5 and Hyper V

No-one at all, anywhere, should be running CentOS 5. At all.

It's been out of support for about 18 months now and there are already several high severity security bugs that are not fixed in CentOS 5 and nor will they ever be. Do not use it.

Re: firewalld --ipset questions

Might be easier to do the opposite and have an ipset containing the CIDR subnets belonging to your country.

Re: Bind9 slave server keeps getting zone transfers refused by AD DNS

You've only allowed tcp port 53 via firewalld. Presumably you ran firewall-cmd --add-port=53/tcp where you should have run firewall-cmd --add-service=dns

Re: centOS 7 hung at "Starting Plymouth switch root service"

Remove rhgb quiet from the kernel command line so you can see what's going on.

Re: Bind9 slave server keeps getting zone transfers refused by AD DNS

Your wireshark clearly shows 192.168.64.64 sending a packet to 192.168.64.128 on port 53 and getting an icmp "Host Administratively Prohibited" back. That's a firewall rejecting the packet.

What is the output from the iptables-save command when run as root on 192.168.64.128?

Re: rebuilding with source rpm available on centos vault is failing always for openjdk

Don't build as root. That won't fix the problem but it will stop you from accidentally trashing your entire system due to a build bug.

Re: i am unable to create var/log/radius/radutmp log in cent OS 7

How did you install radius? Our freeradius package should create /var/log/radius/radutmp when it's installed.

Re: AD authentication in Samba (kerberos errors)

This problem was reported in 7.4 which used samba 4.6.2. CentOS 7.5 is out and now has samba 4.7.1. Are you up to date?

Re: Restart power-off time

If it was then it would most likely be a BIOS configuration option.
