Re: I 'm unable to compile my program in terminal

Oh, this is el6, yes, then it should. In el7 they changed the command, from `yum groupsomething` to `yum group something`

Re: CentOS Virtualization

No, it's more likely the guest isn't set up to use that console. Do you have ssh access to the guest? If so then check to see if it has console=ttyS0 as part of its kernel command line in /proc/cmdline and if not, you could try adding it via the grub.cfg/conf file for the guest version.

Re: Error while attempting to install GUI, Linux Noob alert!

I get to 1:08 in the video and For me, 1:08 into that video is them editing a file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and saving the changes. There are no symbols on the screen at all. On the offchance that it was a typo I also tried 2:08 and that just has a normal looking GUI license acceptance scr...

Re: Problem of "sudo su -" vs "su" on FreeIPA

The su utility is totally separate from sudo and does not use /etc/sudoers. It does not check your authority to execute it but will ask for the root password. If you have not set a root password then I suspect it will let you straight in. Also, on machines with things like cpanel installed, they mod...

Re: journald configuration

If you need to simulate a month of activity then I suspect you will need to tweak the date on the VM (otherwise, see you in August..).

Re: I 'm unable to compile my program in terminal

Which is a solution you will probably need to repeat several times for the other packages you need to do any sort of development - like make, flex, bison etc. Might be better off starting with yum group install "Development Tools"

Re: Problem with two network interfeses

Do you have GATEWAY= in both /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* files? If so, remove it from the interface file for the 172.16 network.

Re: CentoOS7 CLI to GUI

You cannot run startx over an ssh connection. It needs to run at a local console.

I suspect you need to look at installing, configuring and using a VNC connection instead.

Re: Backup SH File HELP

PPK files are putty specific as far as I know. You would need to convert that to openssh format - putty has a utility for doing that or you can just load it into your favorite editor and hack it around in that until it's in the right format (needs you to know what that is of course).
