Did you have the VMWare Guest Additions (or whatever they're called) installed before? They'll need reinstalling for each kernel update.

Boot the older kernel and run yum reinstall kernel-3.10.0-862.2.3.el7.x86_64. Your initramfs file is either corrupted or missing from grub.cfg.

You cannot really coexist CentOS 6 and 7 on the same boot disk. CentOS 7 uses grub2 and that will overwrite CentOS 6's grub legacy boot records and render it unbootable. Is this for a task run by systemd? If so you want to add to the unit file. Use man systemd.exec and look for LimitNOFILE= in a table along with all the other things that can be specified.

Are you sure that firewalld isn't still installed and running? If you aim to use iptables-services then I would yum remove it entirely.

There is a 32 bit version of CentOS 7 too. Look for the altarch builds.

Write to the centos-devel mailing list and ask. No-one from the Xen SIG hangs out on the forums or on IRC so mail is the best (and only AFAIK) way to contact them.
