Re: Intel X5-8350, Sound & WiFi

If the modules are present in the distro kernel and not in ELRepo's then I would suggest opening an RFE ticket on their bug tracker to request that they be enabled there too.

Re: dnf and strange problems with the kernels

Could you please show the complete and unedited output from the dnf command that you are trying to run. Include the command prompt where you enter the command, including the command itself, all the way through until the command prompt returns afterwards. Include all the output.

Re: The advantage of KDump

If you have to ask about it then you probably don't need it. It's for taking a crash dump in case the kernel ever panics. You'd then need someone to analyze it for you (usually Redhat if you had a RHEL subscription). So basicaly, no.

Re: Deleting one very big file brought server to its knees

Deleting a file should just involve manipulating directory data. The file is still present on disk - that's why you never ebay a disk after just doing an rm. I think there is more going on here than we know about.

Re: unable to log rotate centos 7.4.1708 (Core)

I am using centos 7.4.1708 (Core) There's your first mistake - that's 2 point releases and 18 months behind the current version. Run yum update to get up to date and fix numerous high severity security vulnerabilities. That's also not our version of rsyslog - it should be rsyslog-8.24.0-34.el7.x86_...

Re: Downgrade CentOS 7 to CentOS 6

There is neither an upgrade from CentOS 6 to 7 nor is there a downgrade from 7 to 6. You would have to backup and restore all your data in either case.

CentOS 6 entered Production Phase 3 on May 10th 2017 and now only receives critical updates. It will go EOL on 30 Nov, 2020 -- in 1 year, 41 weeks.

Re: Failed to start The Apache ...

Your log is complaining about mod_ssl not being enabled which would be why you cannot connect to https.

Re: modules in perl

You should almost certainly be using packages to provide whatever you need, not doing source installs.
