Re: RHEL 6 upgrade using centos repo

There is an old wiki page https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/MigrationGuide that has details of how to do pretty much exactly that. Be aware that I don't think it's been maintained for some time so it may be inaccurate so, for this reason alone, you should try this out on a test system or six before you...

Re: SCLO repo not working

I think they are deprecated, no longer supported and are about to be removed from the directories and already have been excluded from the metadata.

Re: libNX problem

Just yum remove libNX_Xpm-devel then read the list of things it wants to remove with it and only reply Y if there's nothing critical being removed with it.

Re: CentOS 7 GNOME no PPTP VPN option

The version of NetworkManager-pptp from EPEL hasn't been changed since 2015 and needs rebuilding, probably needs updating to a newer version too. This was reported via https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1467910 but nothing has been done about it. You could try updating that bz with a "me to...

Re: Where is POython ? Install Python 2.7 or 3.6

You'll need to ask cpanel. Once cpanel is installed on a CentOS system, it changes so many things about it that it ceases to be a CentOS system and becomes a cpanel one. All questions about how it works now need to be addressed to cpanel.

Run yum update and make sure the rest of your system is up to date.

Re: Virtualized CentOS 7 only boots in Rescue mode

The two VM types use different "hardware". Boot the rescue kernel and rebuild the correct initramfs file for the most recent kernel using dracut -f (plus other arguments to tell it which kernel version or it will overwrite the rescue one which is not what you want).

Re: Centos 5 and Hyper V

No-one at all, anywhere, should be running CentOS 5. At all.

It's been out of support for about 18 months now and there are already several high severity security bugs that are not fixed in CentOS 5 and nor will they ever be. Do not use it.

Re: firewalld --ipset questions

Might be easier to do the opposite and have an ipset containing the CIDR subnets belonging to your country.

Re: Bind9 slave server keeps getting zone transfers refused by AD DNS

You've only allowed tcp port 53 via firewalld. Presumably you ran firewall-cmd --add-port=53/tcp where you should have run firewall-cmd --add-service=dns
