Re: AFTER POWERFAILURE, "there is a problem with the kernel"

The only errors listed in any of the info you've given us so far are problems with /dev/sdc which looks like it is failing.

Re: failed to start PostgreSQL

If you're using 9.6 then you're not using the CentOS supplied copy which is 9.2.23. You may need to ask the supplier of that 9.6 for assistance.

Did you look at the output of the suggested commands? Did you look in the postgresql logs under /var/log?

Re: regarding upgrading of cent OS.

Only the latest point release of any CentOS version is supported: currently that means 6.9 or 7.5. Anything else is old, out of date and vulnerable. We do not support older versions. You should not be using 6.2 or 6.4 or anything other than 6.9 as all other versions have unfixed high severity securi...

Re: Struggling To Configure WiFi on Basic Installation

I suspect you won't be using wifi at all. Your "hardware" in a virtualbox VM bears no relationship to the actual hardware that the host is installed on. You'll have a virtual ethernet card that will be bridged on the host to your wifi connection there. The guest won't even know it has a wireless con...

Re: Memory Usage Spike - Newbie

The minimum RAM required to run CentOS 7 is documented as 1GB per core. You appear to have less than that - in fact 768MB is too small to run just about anything.

Please provide the output from uname -a run on the server in question as well as free -m

Re: THe newset GCC release on CentOS 7

Never used it so don't really know. I suspect that 'devtoolset-7' will be a meta package that pulls in all of the other devtoolset-7 packages. If you only need gcc then you might be better off installing the explicit package names you want as those will just pull in their immediate dependencies not ...

Re: Reg x startup failed in os installation

That hardware is new enough so that 6.5 will not support it. If you must install CentOS 6 at all (why would you?) then you should be using the latest which is currently 6.9. There is a RHEL 6.10 in beta upstream at the moment but that's not yet released. In any case, 6.5 is over 4 years out of date ...

Re: LVM partitions partitions and swap

I don't really see the point of using a plain partition for swap if everything else uses LVM. Might as well make it all LVM as it's more flexible. For example, with freespace left in the VG you can lvextend a swap LV on the fly (though you have to swapoff/mkswap/swapon to make it take effect). With ...
