Re: No display when booting v6.3

I yea decided to physically take out the hard drives from the server, put them into a work station based computer, then mounted them (of course this was no harder than clicking a single menu button), copied over both drive contents, as they where on 2 seperate logical volumes as per my original setu...

Re: No display when booting v6.3

Oh sorry but though logically I may as well remove the 2 hard drives, try and attach them to my working computer which has a dual Linux and Windows boot and mount them in there. Then back up my data like that, to be fair with you I might as well do that because even if I did have access to recover m...

Re: No display when booting v6.3

I did try that edit part of selecting a kernel but what gets me is that it's happened since the kernel upgrade I think was either yesterday or the day before. If that mount doesn't work then I don't see what else I can do. Might as well give up hope and format it and then reinstall everything, regre...

Re: No display when booting v6.3

Is there any way of getting into this perhaps using a LiveCD to actually view what I have done perhaps? I mean I don't remember disabling anything like udev-post, I think from memory it was draid or something about raid, of which I do not use anyways or have setup that's for sure, hence why I disabl...

Re: No display when booting v6.3

I got it to work to be more verbose about its booting but it's only coming up with: Gives something about my 3 logical volumes being inactive on this: 'dracut' lv_root, lv_home and lv_swap, which are my logical volumes when I installed my server. [code] dracut: inactive "/dev/VolGroup/lv_root" [<SIZ...

Re: No display when booting v6.3

I tried ESC key, kept pressing it, came up with the grub menu, but when I put 's' or '3' at the end of the kernel entry, but all it does when I hit 'b' to boot that option, the same thing occurs. Hmm I have then tried as you said to try the CTRL+ALT+F2 but still nothing just the same thing, I really...

Re: No display when booting v6.3

Thank you for you reply, annoyingly I have disabled the delay setting on my grub config, so there's no menu to actually hit a key as such. Is there anyway of getting back into this? There's no GUI installed, it's just up to 3 services that I was trying to speed up my server and I may have (well quit...

[SOLVED] No display when booting v6.3

I was trying to speed my CentOS server up by disabling some of its services, though I seem to have stopped anything from working on reboot. Just comes up with a pulsating full stop (period) sign and nothing else, is there anyway of booting into recovery mode and using the chkconfig command at all? I...

Linux App Like WinSCP

Is there a Linux app like windows has WinSCP so I can see remtote and local files and transfer over using well supported SSH and then a whole other load of protocols like FTP? It's really just of course SSH I am looking for to be honest.

Re: Yum keeps failing to update software 404 error no more mirrors to try

*had to rewrite this post* I was having a no brain moment then it's fine it's just one of my additional repos like for PHP 5.4 (of which I am having problems doing things with) where in that's causing the problem. I just disabled then ran 'yum clean all' and re-enabled them and they all work now str...
