Re: centos6 grub boot from local isofile

Hello BruceLee,

I would give the simple way a try. Just "dd" the ,iso to the partition and add a grub stanza to chainload the iso. Something like the following should work if you put the iso to "sda7":
title Backup ISO (sda7)
chainloader (hd0,6)+1
Hope this helps,

Can't boot from USB using CentOS Minimal

Hi people and welcome to CentOS Forum, The minimal iso can be booted from a flash/pen/usb drive. The minimal iso can not be just copied or dd'd to a usb drive and boot. The procedure to setup the minimal.iso as a bootable usb drive from a upstream clone (CentOS, SL, etc.) or Fedora is as follows: If...

Re: RAM-Only system setup

I use a simalar method,
I spin a liveCD/DVD with all the packages I need and put it to USB. I add "live_ram" to the kernel line so the cd/dvd is put to ram on boot allowing me to remove the USB CD/DVD.

Hope this helps,

Re: Howto respin Centos 6 ISO

Hello londonnet,

I have used pungi and mkisofs to make custom respins of version 6x. I have not tried this with CentOS but I can confirm it works with other clones.

I described the method I used in this post: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpost.php?p=1578216&postcount=4

Hope this helps,

Re: KVM USB Redirection

Hello hzuser, Spice client side usb sharing is not fully supported yet for enterpise linux. Host/server usb sharing is supported, so you can add a usb device of the host running KVM to a vm but not a usb device from a client side machine. I noticed that Fedora has been implaminting the client usb sh...

Re: CentOS Live cd creation issues

It is my pleasure to help, You can remove many packages by putting a "-" in front of the package name in the %packages section like:
# packages removed from @base -bind-utils -ed -kexec-tools -system-config-kdump -libaio -libhugetlbfs -microcode_ctl -psacct -quota -autofs -smartmontools [/code...

Re: CentOS Live cd creation issues

Here is a .ks with most boot parameters removed. The boot parameters "pw=" "noswap" "serviceon" "serviceoff" and "eject" have been left in this .ks. If I can find the time in the near future I will try a different way to achieve what the first few lines of the %post --nochroot does.
#########...

Re: CentOS Live cd creation issues

Hi dheerajkabra, Glad it is booting and working for the most part for you. 1: The following lines from the %post no chroot (ugly they are) remove the "rhgb quiet" from the kernel line and put a "3" at the end of the kernel line. (there is probably a better way to do this):
for rhgbfile in EFI/...

Re: CentOS Live cd creation issues

Hi That .ks seems to be for version 5.5. I did a little googleing for a kickstart for a minimal.ks for version 6.x but couldn't find one, so I wrote/cut&pasted one together. There maybe a better way to do some things in this .ks but what I have below works fine here. There are 370 packages so there ...

Re: CentOS Live cd creation issues

If you can not get things working, post a link to the .ks you are using and post the command you use to create the .iso. Maybe I or someone else will see what is causing the issue.
