In this case it's essentially a connection identifier. Note that it does need to be unique. As shown in your output, fd 4 got reused for a new connection after the previous fd 4 was closed.

Re: mirror.centos.org - 193.29.187.83 - Fortigate IP reputation blacklist

mirror.centos.org machines are run by the CentOS Project, even though the server hardware and network connectivity is typically donated by a sponsor. Reverse DNS entries may not always point to centos.org names. In contrast, the mirrors listed on https://www.centos.org/download/mirrors/ are operated...

Re: Centos 7 root login

An alternative reason for why you might not be able to log in as root is if you have PermitRootLogin in /etc/ssh/sshd_config set to something else than "yes". There may also be other security mechanisms that affect this. It is generally a good idea to prevent logging in as root. The key question her...

Re: I need help to change command centos6 TO Centos 7

Do you mean that you have already installed CentOS 7, and the commands you used (listed above) on CentOS 6 to configure your system no longer work on CentOS 7? Many of the packages you refer to are for EL6 (CentOS 6). You will need to find the equivalent EL7 (CentOS 7) packages and use those instead...

Re: How to confirm power chords and power supplies are plugged in

For starters, I would prefer that PMs be left for those things that need private attention of someone. If a general support topic does not get responses in a timely manner, it's not really a reason for PMing people. That said, the power supply issue usually depends on server hardware vendor. Many of...

Re: CVE-2017-10000253 CentOS 7.3.1611

If you had done the web search suggested above, you might have found this Bugzilla entry and especially its comment 12 , which says: This issue affects the Linux kernel packages as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 prior to kernel version 3.10.0-693, that is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 GA ker...

Re: Is it possible to set Operating System Release Preference like in RHEL ?

You mean you want to stop receiving updates to your system? That's easy, you only need to refrain from running yum update ever again. If you have yum-cron installed to install updates, you will also need to edit /etc/yum/yum-cron.conf to stop yum from applying the updates automatically ( apply_updat...

Re: Package ipxe-roms-qemu needs update

CentOS is a rebuild of RHEL and ships whatever RHEL ships. The latest ipxe-roms in RHEL is ipxe-20180825-2.git133f4c . If they at some point choose to update the package, the new package will also end up to CentOS. CentOS does not provide newer versions than what RHEL ships. We don't support cherry ...

Re: Package ipxe-roms-qemu needs update

Running yum update will update your CentOS to 7.7 which includes ipxe-roms-qemu-20180825.
