Fedora and MS Boot Certs

I am only passing this on, as it seems that Red Hat and CentOS may ultimately be affected. I do not understand all the tech issues, but this URL was distributed on the Wash DC Ubuntu email distro. I had to go back to Ubuntu afetr a dismal failure on a CentOS upgrade. http://m.networkworld.com/news/2...

Re: Post 6.0 CR Repo Disaster

I only posted in Social and not the General nor Software fora because it was not a question. I have already installed Kubuntu Long Term Support release 10.04 over the CentOS 6 install. I would not even begin to know how to diagnose this driver/sw/hw issue. Since the boot splash image appeared but no...

Post 6.0 CR Repo Disaster

I was so happy that I had gotten CentOS 6.0 installed by myselfa few months ago.....Even gotten flash, jre, and DVDs working..... I installed the cr repo yesterday (I saw in a post from 9/27/2011 it was ready), ran yum update, and watched with glee all the changes and new installs in the terminal wi...

Re: Question on wiki page: AdditionalResources/Repositories/CR

As ALWAYS, thank you, Trevor. I will sit tight and run it later.....hopefully after an announcement. :)

Since this was just a question, and as I am the originator, any Moderator, Guru, or Grand Poobah can close this.

I hate stuff not properly statused.

[RESOLVED] Question on wiki page: AdditionalResources/Repositories/CR

I am asking because I am not a Sys Admin. I am asking because I am not a Developer. I googled this phrase today: "centos continuous release repository". This page was returned: http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/CR It has a modified_date of 2011-09-23. However, I do not know wha...

Re: Upgrading to CentOS 6

The Red Hat and CentOS documentation seem to indicate that upgrading "in place" is not possible. http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Installation_Guide/ch-upgrade-x86.html And here, in Section #2: http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS6.0 I was curious mysel...

Backporting security fixes

As a non-programmer and non-sysadmin, I have learned something from the forums about app version numbers in CentOS that I did not know before. Just sharing this resource, because I have read 2 or 3 threads recently about repos and updating apps. I have personally added a repo to update firefox - not...
