Leaving CentOS for RHEL: How to maintain community support?
With two months to spare, I ran convert2rhel on my CentOS 8.4 home server and it went through the motions. I'm using a RHEL free individual developer account. Surprisingly, all is well. Not a hitch. Everything seems fully functional without any further intervention. [root@ares ~]# cat /etc/centos-re...

Re: Any problems/tips transitioning to RHEL?
I can appreciate the value of a fresh install, and I'm fully prepared to do that (with backups/configurations saved) if necessary. But my desire is to do a seamless conversion from CentOS 8 to RHEL 8, and to solicit feedback from people who have done just that. One of the reasons for selecting RHEL ...

Any problems/tips transitioning to RHEL?
I'm currently running CentOS 8.4 for my home server. After the announcement last year of the change in CentOS's future, I elected to take a deep breath and not make any sudden moves to allow the landscape to become more clear. My choice is to move to RHEL with a free account. I've read Red Hat's ins...

mdadm RAID Upgrade Advice
I'm running CentOS 8.3 and I'm currently using mdadm for software RAID. I have an 8-bay external SAS enclosure, of which 5 are currently used (4 TB apiece) as a RAID6 array with 12 TB of usable storage. The other 3 bays have local backup drives that get rotated in and out of the system. When it come...

Re: Problems updating CentOS 8.2 system
That fixed it for me!
For some reason, the /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/subscription-manager.conf file had enabled=1.
Changing that to 0 seems to have fixed it.
Thanks again!
Michael

Problems updating CentOS 8.2 system
I periodically check for updates to my CentOS 8.2 system, but just recently started receiving an error that makes it seem as though I'm trying to use RHEL instead. [root@ares ~]# dnf list updates Updating Subscription Management repositories. Unable to read consumer identity This system is not regis...

Re: Attempted use of link aggregation and now have lost ethernet connection
@jlehtone, thanks for the info! I spent the morning reading up on teaming vs bonding. Honestly, with the lacp protocol chosen, they sound similar for what I need. Yes, I did remove the second IP address from the backup ethernet port once I was able to get the primary (LACP) one working. I made a mes...

Re: Attempted use of link aggregation and now have lost ethernet connection
I seem to have solved my problem. I was able to re-enable my backup ethernet connection: ip addr add 192.168.2.21/24 dev enp6s0 ip route add default via 192.168.2.1 dev enp6s0 dnf install NetworkManager NetworkManager-tui NetworkManager-team Next I found procedures for establishing network bonding u...

Attempted use of link aggregation and now have lost ethernet connection
I have a (usually) headless server with four ethernet jacks. Previously, I've only used one (enp3s0) assigned to the server's IP of 192.168.2.20 OK, so I figured that I would try using link aggregation with two of the ethernet ports (enp3s0 and enp5s0) connected to the switch with LACP to improve ba...

Dependency failed for Cryptography Setup for external hard drive
I have two removable hard drives that I rotate in and out of the system. They are used for backups and one is off-site while the other is connected and receiving backups. They both use LUKS for encryption. Every hour, however, I see entries in the system logs that seem to complain about the drive th...
