[SOLVED] How to access network share in CentOS 7 / Xfce
Hi pjsr2, thanks for your hint, this did it in fact. I had gvfs-smb installed, but not gvfs-fuse. After installing that package, I can not enter smb://[IP-adress] in Thunar, get prompted for username and password and access the files directly. Thank you very much! I am marking this thread as SOLVED ...

[SOLVED] How to access network share in CentOS 7 / Xfce
Hi folks, I have just successfully installed CentOS 7.13.1611 (Core), 3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64. As the host system is a pretty old machine, I decided to install Xfce 4.12 instead of Gnome or KDE. The system runs pretty fine so far, but for one thing: accessing remote file systems, like the smb/cifs sha...

Re: No printing on Epson BX 610FW due to SELinux
Sorry for getting back to this subject this late, I have been moving to another town and it took me a while to get things settled. I have been digging a bit deeper into this error using the sealert tool, here is the output created. For some reason the output is a weird mix of German and English lang...

Accessing webdav resources
Hi community, for years I have my postbox hosted at GMX. That provider also offers the "GMX Media Center" which provides online storage. For windows users, GMX offers a tool that enables you to access your online storage in Windows explorer using webdav. As I am using that storage on a regular basis...

No printing on Epson BX 610FW due to SELinux
Hi CentOS enthusiasts, since updating my system to CentOS 6.6, I am having problems printing on my Epson BX610FW printer with the manufacturer drivers installed. Everything worked fine prior to upgrading to 6.6 so I assume this issue is related to the update. Every print job, even test pages, are st...

Re: Error during boot: gconf-sanity-check-2 error 256
Hi Trevor, thanks for your suggestion. The thing is that your proposition is not exactly what I intended to do. I should have mentioned that the existing drive is a solid state drive and the new one a standard hard disk drive. Additionally, when the system was set up no lvm was used. Three primary p...

[SOLVED] Error during boot: gconf-sanity-check-2 error 256
Hi community, recently I added an additional harddrive to my system, mounted it on /mnt/hdd and added the corresponding line to /etc/fstab. Then I moved parts of my own home folder (images, videos, music and download folders) to that mount point, set user rights, permissions and SE Linux contexts ac...

[SOLVED] Creating Live USB with persistent space and /home
Hello everybody, my job requires my travelling a lot and so I used to carry two notebooks around all the time, the company's device and my own. As you can imagine, I'd like to get rid of one of them, so I was thinking the other day why not get one of these new high-speed USB 3 pendrives, install a l...

Installation of "AusweisApp" fails because of dependencies
Hi (mainly German) CentOS enthusiasts, this topic is mainly for German users, as it is related to a specific software "AusweisApp" from German government to provide a mean to identify yourself on a digital basis with your new personal (RF)ID card and an appropriate RFID card reader. The software is ...

Re: rookie os istalll questions, didn't find answers outright
1. If your machine really is an Athlon 64 it should support 64 bit, therefore I would recommend the 64 edition (x86_64). 2. Find a mirror close to your location at [url=http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=30]mirror list[/url]. After picking a mirror, navigate to /6/isos/x86_64 (or...
