bind error creating <zone name>.jnl

Ok I did a vanilla install of bind onto a centos 6 box and dhcp on another. Got everything working after the usual typos  then checking the /var/log/messages file kept on the dns server kept getting messages about "error (network unreachable) resolving address xxxxxx" and an error with "<zone ...

Re: oracle automaitc shutdown

Dyslexia rules ko!

My touch command's missing the final 's' in subsys, eventually looked up the purpose of the lock/subsys directory, and all of a sudden the mists parted and everything became clear.

Many thanks for your help!

Apologies for being a bit dense!

Re: oracle automaitc shutdown

Sorry about forgetting that

Yes, service oracle stop works, alert log gets populated and everything. System shutdown doesn't seem to kick off the shutdown script, nothing gets entered ito the alert log and the database keeps on going into crash recovery on startup.

Re: oracle automaitc shutdown

Added the lock file entries, no change, starts up fine, doesn't seem to run the shutdown scripts. Here's chkconfig --list oracle [root@localhost ~]# chkconfig --list oracle oracle 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off [root@localhost ~]#ls /etc/rc.d/rc?.d/*oracle /etc/rc.d/rc0.d/K10oracle /etc/rc.d...

[SOLVED] oracle automaitc shutdown

Hi I've got an Oracle db on a Centos 6.2 server, I've followed all the automatic startup/shutdown info I can find. The server starts the db quite happily. However shutdown doesn't happen, I'm using a script to call dbstart/dbshut which I put into /etc/init.d and then chkconfig to activate the servic...
